..so, the norwegians both can and will.

Siv Støldals smart design mixes safety and functionality in this collection called High Visibility (SS 08), that makes you just that, very visible. We norwegians like it like that. Functional and safe. (It goes way back..)

I kind of like these videos that show the collection. Especially the part with the fire extinguisher at the end of the first one, and the part inside the apartment in the second.

In her Cover Up collection AW 07/08, she made these wonderful jackets that you've probably seen/heard of that can be made into tents. They can even be buttoned together, so if a whole group of friends have these jackets you can make one enormous tent that will fit you all. Brilliant.

Yet again, perfect for us norwegians that might get a sudden urge to go camping somewhere..

I am still highly in love with her AW 07/08 collection, and like I have said before, my imaginary boyfriend has all the outfits from that collection. (old news, but still. ahh..)

If you live in Copenhagen you can buy her stuff in the Henrik Vibskov store.
If you live somewhere else, you could always buy it online from, for instance, KronKron (they have her stuff from AW 07/08). If you are going to buy stuff from KronKron you should do it very quickly because of the icelandic krona that went down the drain not too many weeks ago, and before inflation sets in fully and they adjust their prices thereafter, you could probably do quite a scoop on their website. They actually have a lot of wonderful stuff..

And perhaps if we help the icelanders and buy a lot of shit from them we could actually help their economy get back on its feet! (Just a thought..)

You can run, but you can't hide.

He has put a lot of effort in being incognito. He doesn't want his picture shown anywhere and whenever he is doing interviews, it is merely by fax. I've done some research and I've dug up a picture of him, but this photo is from 1983, so I could imagine he has changed a lot since then.

Ladies and gentlemen, here's the master of deconstruction, Martin Margiela.

CAT AND THE VIDEOS

Photobucket
Cat Power (born Charlyn Marie Marshall) is a singer/songwriter known for her minimalist style and ethereal vocals. She has released 8 albums to date and in my opinion their all great. She's also knows for having a troubled past with alcohol and drugs but says she's now sober and happy she got out of it.
Cat Power's voice, is to me, fragile but strong in the same time. She has a beautiful and poetic thing about her and the way she sings. She's a great artist and has obviously great taste aswell, as you can see in her music videos - the people she choses to work with; including Harmony Korine, which is one of my favorite movie directors.
Not to mention that she was/is Karl Lagerfeld's muse and is said to be the face of Chanel and has graced the cover of I-D Magazine.

Here is a video of hers directed by Harmony Korine

The Darjeeling experience

Photobucket
So today I had my weekly cinema day and I wen't to see The Darjeeling Limited directed by Wes Anderson and starring Adrian Brody (I have a huge crush on him), Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman - It was so beautiful and poetic.
Wes Anderson who also directed Royal Tenenbaums (2001) and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) is one of my favorite movie directors. His movies leave me with this joy of life. I always leave the theater feeling so happy and content. + the soundtrack is brilliant. So good that when I came home I rushed to my mac and bought the album on itunes. You know, it's like one of those moments in your life that you'll never forget. I'll never forget this movie. Only the best movies have such a huge impact on me.

Welcome to my world.

Whenever I want to tend to my vouyeristic needs, I don't go watching "Big Brother", "Paradise Hotel", "Idols" or whatever lame popular culture reality show there is, I will drop by Undercover's head designer Jun Takahashi's blog.

Ever wondered about what this prince of darkness is doing on a sunday afternoon? What he is eating? Who is he hanging out with? or just what he is planning on showing next season?

Well, here is your chance.

COBAIN IN A COMA

Photobucket
(photography: Matt Irvin for Dazed&Confused)

Is a weekly radioshow from San Francicso and it's on every sunday from 4PM to 6PM on pirate radio. You can also hear them online at: http://www.westaddradio.com/cobain.
Basicly it's this girl called Liza and this guy called Patrick that talk about how wasted they were at last nights party, bad exhibitions and the daily random conversation about drugs, bands and ugly celebrities.
Well, they may not be to intelligent to listen to but the music they play is really cool.

STRANGE LOVE

Richard Nicoll made these amazing sunglasses for the australien brand Ksubi's SS 08 collection and I'll so be sporting them this summer and forever on..
I also wan't the Maison Martin Margiela SS 08 sunglasses. They are so FUTURISTIC AND FAN FUCKING TASTIC! Pardon my language but I get so exited over amazing things like this.
I have never been a sunglas hag but these are just incredible. Especially because i'm moving to Los Angeles in august and there I'll need them badly, along with sunscreen SPF 100 cos I hate having a tan. So that will be interesting..

fabulous mess mixtape # 1

1. frYars - The Ides
2. Robyn - Heartbeat (Le Heartbeat de la Videoband Remix)
3. Johnny Sexual - I'll love you till you leave
4. MGMT - Time to pretend
5. Cortex - The freaks
6. Black Kids - I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you (The Twelves Remix)
7. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Love song nr. 7
8. The Videoband! - C0MPUT3R

"With every heartbeat", "Time to pretend" and "I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you" have all been favourites of mine at different points in time. Because one gets tired of songs one hears again and again, and because remixes freshes favourite songs up a bit, I have in this mixtape put three of my favourite songs in new versions. However, until there exists a nicer remix than the one I had first put up of MGMTs "Time to pretend", I will keep the original.

In this mixtape you also find icelandic Johnny Sexual's wonderful song: "I'll love you till you leave". You can subsribe to his podcast somewhere online that feeds you with his music automatically (to your itunes) every time he makes something new. It is very, very wise/nice. More bands should do this. Here it is: The SAD Sexcast

My love for the 18 year old london boy frYars has been declared earlier on in this blog, so I dont think that one needs any further introduction.

The Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Videoband songs are also a couple of nice treats!

Another favourite of mine that I was recently introduced to, but dates back all the way to 1981, is the song "We are the freaks" by Cortex. It has the silliest lyrics in bullshit swedish english, and the song itself was made, written and recorded in less than 45 minutes. Despite all this it has a touch of simplistic geniality. And you feel like jumping up and down while singing along to Freddie Wadlings beautifully disturbing voice while picturing yourself standing in the middle of the night on the frozen floor in your kitchen wearing your pyjamas looking really scary and/or being really scared. Apparently you also have a dinosaur riding in your elevator. (I love that part)

fabulous mess mixtape # 1

It will also be made longer when I have more time.

The mixtapes will all have different themes. Right now I think the theme was favourite songs at the moment. And most of the songs were quite fresh/new. Later I will do lots of different variants.

I think I am allowed to

be a little bit in love with both the guy and the girl in this tribute video to MGMTs song kids.

HYERES IS HERE

And I'm the happiest camper or I could be happier if I actually was going to the Hyeres festival. But instead I'll enjoy watching the updates and video posts from the amazing and very talented Diane Pernet.
It's so amazing to see the new big talents out there. It makes me so full of energy and exitment. I can't describe it. Finding a new talent, for me, is like if you found a suitcase with a million pounds in it and could get to keep it.

Here is the newest video from Diane's blog..

RICCARDO TISCI

Has only been at the house of Givenchy for 3 years but already it's hard to imagine him not being there.
It's always a joy to see what he comes up with season after season.
His clothes are always wearable and incredibly beautiful. They are for the strong woman, the passionate woman - a woman with a mind of her own.
His FW 08/09 collection was said to be one of his best collection to date; With PVC jackets and skin thight trousers, chiffon tops and lace dresses, you could see that he was clearly inspired by the Catholic rock chick.
For me, his work is ALWAYS so well done. The details, the craftmanship, the embroidments. From the choice of fabric he uses to the accessories, it's all put so very well together.
I'm a Givenchy girl and I always will be - as long as Mr. Tisci is there.

Might I add that he is also the president jury at this years Hyeres Fashion and photography festival. I think that says a bit about how powerful he will become in the future.

The protégé

In terms of menswear, Raf Simons has always been the one to look for when you need some inspiration. His signature clean lines and sharp tailoring have been influencing every part of the fashion industry for a very long time.

Now, the next generation tutored by Raf Simons is stepping out of his shadow and trying to create his own path.

BUTTERFLY WINGS

If you don't have 2.000 pounds to spend on a Alexander Mcqueen dress, right here and now, you should invest in his new huge scarf, that has the same print as the colorful butterfly dresses from his SS 08 show (which also was a tribute to Isabella Blow). The scarf is quite huge and can be made into a dress or whatever you wan't it to be. The only difference is that it's made from cotton and not silk, like the dresses.
I bought mine at Liberty in London for 115 pounds, I think.

BLOW ME AWAY

When I was 13 I wen't to a Philip Tracy exhibition at the Trapholt museum in Kolding, Denmark. And from that moment on, I knew, that I was meant to work in fashion. It was the famous exhibition called: "When Philip met Isabella". And it had every hat that he had made for her. I was completely blown away and for a whole year, I couldn't talk about anything else then Philip Tracy and his muse Isabella Blow. I instantly became a Isabella Blow fan and discovered how talented she was, aswell as Tracy.
I always wanted to meet Isabella, but sadly, I will never have the chance, as she passed away last year. But for me, she was a hero, inspiration and a great energizer.
She was also known for discovering Alexander Mcqueen, Philip Tracy, Stella Tennant and Sophie Dahl.
The fashion world is dull without you, Issy.

TINYVICES

God, I love looking through tinyvices.com. You can get so blown away by the talent that's out there.
I found this guy called James Cooper and I find his photography, to be so beautiful.
Especially these two photos (image below). There's something very poetic and sweet about them.
They make me smile. And I wouldn't mind having them on my livingroom wall.

THE MUSHROOM EFFECT

I wan't a mushroom dress, a mushroom coat, a mushroom gown, a mushroom everything.
And when I say mushroom, I mean the effect you get of magic mushrooms. Just imagine the 3D prints you could make on different types of fabric.
Jebus!

FLY GLASSES

Yes yes yes, my new glasses are indeed fly.
Well, they are not exactly new, cos they are my fathers glasses from the 60s. Luckily for me, he never threw anything away. He even saved this old carmirror. For what purpose, I will never now. But he was sure that someday It would come in handy. But we didn't even have a car, cos my mom thought and still thinks they are useless; "WHAT DO YOU THINK WE HAVE LEGS FOR?".

When I was a kid I used to wish for glasses. I wanted glasses so badly. I even wanted braces cos I thought it was SO charming.
But I had no need for braces or glasses (so they told me). But as I got older I decided to see an optician and get my eyesight checked. And it turned out, that I actually need glasses for reading and spying on my neighbours odd habits.
Photobucket

Might I add that when I took this photo I was drinking wine, feeling tipsy and listening to Ub40 - red red wine.
I also would like to add that the lyrics to this song are pretty damn cool.

Red red wine you make me feel so fine
You keep me rocking all of the time

Red red wine you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollars when your just in my hand....

Intergalactic Queen

Nele Fayen is the name of a very talented fashion designer that graduated from the famous Fashion Academy in Antwerp, Belgium. Where designers such as Ann Demeulemeester and Bernhard Willhelm also studied. Her graduate collection was called Intergalactic Queen and got very good reviews (OBVIOUSLY). I hope to see much more from this super talent.
I feel very honered and lucky to say that two of her pieces (photos below) are going to be shipped to me! YIPPY!

Acne pop chinos

last thursday we had this thing at work. I thought I might show you some pictures from it.
before this was held I was told that all the bartenders were going to look like tom cruise in the movie Coctail. they did not really, so I was a little bit disappointed. but the free drinks tasted great, the people were wonderful, the chinos were pretty, and all in all it was a very nice evening.

I borrowed these pictures from christel..
