randy and my take on them

one of my all-time favourite bands RANDY, came to play here last weekend. after having had a pause for a couple of years they are now playing lots of shows around sweden. even though it was the 5. or 6. time I saw them live, it felt like something completely new this time. perhaps because I thought devastatingly they wouldnt play any more shows and was angry as fuck when I realized I couldnt come watch their "last" show in Umeå when they played Umeå Open in 2006. (I was stuck in Iceland..afraid of flying). but now a couple of years later, in Umeå, I got to see them again and it was THE concert of the year. at least.

I have made a few coverversions of two of their songs. one can be found on my myspace. and another I have put here for free downloading

I dont necessarily think my covers do them any justice so I think you should listen to the original songs in stead.

I have talked to some guys up here that play real instruments about making a coverband (for fun), playing randy covers. I hope I get the time to go through with it. right now school is up to my ears.

I really, really like their take on the song. might also make sense to you that dont know swedish, since you might know the english version (robyns) and therefore understand pretty much what its about.

fucked up good

I dont think this trailer does this movie justice, but I definetely think you should see the movie. it is really fucked up, but in a wonderful way. the acting here literally blew my mind. BEAUTIFUL cinematography aswell..

I liked this movie even more than I liked the squid and the whale, and I liked that one a lot.

bloody moviedays and alice in wonderland

yesterday I watched paranoid park. cinematographically very beautiful, and with a good story to tell. great acting from such young actors and also some very nice shot skating scenes. gus van sant understands young kids and the way they think. elephant might have left a stronger impression because of all the true stories it was based on. but someone mentioned today that paranoid park was kind of based on a real event too. not sure if that is true though.. whether it happened or not, it is a situation that of course could happen to anyone, which makes it an interesting view to see how the young kid deals with it. basically it is a movie about teens, skating and a murder.

and today I watched sweeney todd. because a friend of mine walked out of this while he was watching it, and we normally have quite similar tastes in movies, I was not expecting to like it all that much. expectations were low.. but I liked it! not half as much as I like all the other tim burton/johnny depp movies, but it was quite okey, and it did not have such an expected outcome as one originally thought.

working the google on the internetmachine, I found that tim burton is making a version of alice in wonderland with johnny depp (rumours say) as the mad hatter. oh hoorray! I hope it is true!

in the meantime here is the first part from another version of alice (Neco z Alenky) by Jan Svankmajer. I first saw this film when working in the videostore in 2005. before that I dont think I actually liked stop motion pictures all that much. but this one is quite a treat!

UNDERGROUND

Emir Kusturica is one of my favorite movie directors. His movies are so beautiful and poetic yet so tragic.

Tonight I watched my all time favorite "Underground".

yey and phuh! there is a very nice clothingshop here where I moved to really far north in sweden (umeå). It used to be kind of bad, but this season they have bought a lot of stuff I really like. Half the store is only acne, and they have lots of carin wester too..

there are about a million things I want to write about right now, having had a small "moving to another country and going to a brilliant festival and having a vacation at our family cabin without internet" break.

I have not yet settled in the new country (sweden), but I have moved from the previous one (denmark).

In the meantime, at my cabin (norway), I tried making some sort of an attempt at something that could resemble that of a music video. as I joyfully received the news about the existence of a brilliant covervideo of one of my songs, I realized that I had made no previous attempts at making such a thing myself. I had long been planning it inside, but it never got caught on tape.. What I made doesn't resemble what I had planned in my mind beforehand, and it is not even one of the best takes, but I get bored easily and suck at editing. so here it is. with all its faults and lacking 30 seconds inside that I have not the slightest idea about what happened to.



next up is my tale of the brilliance that was the øyafestival, and also of course a post containing the cover that was made of this song of mine, I recognized us.

FASHION BUY

I bought these really pretty Marc by Marc Jacobs boots a few days ago. I've never been a big fan of Marc Jacobs shoes but I really like these. They're a part of my wardrobe change. I've decided to not only wear black clothes and shoes and get some more colourful and cute pieces. Hurrah.
